1950 Ford Crestliner Introduction

The ad copy for this car written for its introduction says it all. “Here's America's newest, smartest car.”  This is no ordinary Ford 2 door sedan.  The Crestliner was the top dog in the Ford lineup.  It had unique paint and interior along with a distinctive vinyl top.  It surely received admiring looks in its day and it still does to this day.

1950 Ford Crestliner Specifics

This car is best characterized as a “survivor.” Everything is present and working.  The 100 hp flathead engine starts easily and runs smoothly.  The three speed transmission is paired to the original overdrive for comfortable cruising.  It has had a recent tuneup including a carburetor rebuild and replacement of all ignition parts.

The paint, chrome and interior are presentable and show well.  The electrical system remains 6 volt as original.  A pair of Optima batteries insure reliable starts.  One modification is the conversion to dual exhausts with appropriate mufflers to let you appreciate the iconic sound of a Ford Flathead V8.
